Anik Boys of Bicholim emerged winners of Aamdar Trophy All Goa cricket tournament organised by BJP Mandal of Vasco at MPT ground. In the final, Anik Boys defeated Ghumteshwar Boys of Quepem by 37 runs.
Batting first, Anik Boys scored 74 in 19.1 overs. Manoj Narvekar top-scored with 22, while Avinash chipped in 12. For Ghumteshwar Boys, Suraj Parab was the chief wicket taker, scalping 3 for 10. In reply, Ghumteshwar Boys were bundled out for 37 as Pravin Mandrekar, Kaplesh Gawas and Gopal Gawas claimed three wickets each for Anik Boys to comfortably defend their score.
In all, 16 teams from across the State participated in the tournament. Anik Boys were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and the winner's trophy. Ghumteshwar Boys settled for a cash prize of Rs 50,000. The semi-final losers, Tiswadi Boys and Pedne Boys were awarded Rs 15,000 each. Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida was the chief guest for the prize presentation function and handed over the prizes in the presence of Chairperson of Mormugao Municipal Council Deepak Naik and the councillors.
Individual prizes: Best bowler and double hat-trick - Suraj Parab (Ghumteshwar Boys), Best batsman - Manoj Narvekar (Anik Boys), Man of the final - Kalpesh Gawas (Anik Boys), Man of the series - Pravin Mandrekar (Anik Boys).
