Cuncolim Union edged past Ambelim SC 1-0 to secure a place in the semifinals of the Rising Cup 2026.
After a goalless first half, substitute Ansh Patel broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute with a stunning 25-yard strike. Voraj Velip laid off the ball for Patel, whose effort gave Ambelim goalkeeper Samuel D’Silva no chance.
Ambelim had opportunities to draw level, but Darshan Hererkar and Aaron Pinto failed to convert their chances as Cuncolim Union held on for victory.
Cuncolim’s Daulat Dessai came close to scoring on two occasions, while Brijesh Shelke, Melwin Fernandes and Warren Dias also made important contributions during the match.
Patel was adjudged Man of the Match for his decisive strike. The award was presented by Levino Dias. Cuncolim Union will face Uguem in the semifinals on November 3.
