Assolda Veterans made short work of Panjim Veterans 3-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the 1st All Goa Fatorda Veterans at Don Bosco ground, Fatorda on Wednesday.
It was in the 2nd minute itself that Peter Peixoto of Assolda Veterans took control of the ball from a midfielder and shot from the top of the Panjim box but an opposition defender cleared the ball from the goaline. At the other end, Panjim had a chance to score through Alex Alvares but he was stopped short by the Assolda defence.
A long ranger from Alex then should have been in the back of the Assolda net but his shot only hit the side netting.
Assolda Veterans were in control and Peter Peixoto, who had a good outing, struck thrice in the 14th, 48th and 50th minute. At the fag end, Panjim Veterans scored a consolation goal through Alex Alvares who converted
a spot kick.
