Assonora United Football Club came back from being three goals down to hold Friend’s XI Sports Club 3-3 in a GFA Third Division League Bardez zone match, played at Nachinola church ground, on Monday. At half-time Friends XI SC led 2-0.
Friends XI went ahead in the 35th minute through a Leonardo D’Souza strike. Two minute later, Friends XI went 2-0 up through Francis Rodrigues. Soon after resumption, Friends XI pumped in another goal as they scored in the 46th minute.
Assonora regrouped and reduced the margin through Prajyot Arabekar, 3-1. In the 70th minute, Sebastian Almeida brought the deficit down to 3-2 with a looping volley. Sebastian then equalised for Assanora United in the 80th minute. The hard-fought draw ensured Assanora United qualified for the play-offs.
