With four of the seven players in the Goan beach football silver medal winning team from Mormugao constituency, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar has said he would consider identifying an area at Baina beach for youth to practice beach football and get a court developed through the Tourism department.
Amonkar was speaking to media persons after felicitating four Goan beach football players from Mormugao constituency, Terrence Fernandes, Kashinath Rathod, Abel Gurjao and Satish Naik for having won the silver medal and bringing laurels to the State at the 37th National Games.
"It is indeed a great achievement for Goa and the four players from Mormugao constituency represented the State and competed with 28 states and 8 union territories in the 37th National Games,” said Amonkar.
“Our youth from this constituency are playing at National level and I will do everything it takes and will also speak to the government to offer them benefits for this achievement because the Government had even said that national level players are eligible for a government job," said Amonkar.
He said Kashinath Rathod was the Goan beach football vice-captain who went on to be the highest goal scorer of the tournament.
“I have already taken up a beautification programme of Baina Beach and with these boys making us proud with their achievements, I plan to identify an area on the beach for the youth to practice beach football and get a court developed through the tourism department," said Amonkar.
