The engines roared behind the Navelim bypass this Sunday as the 2025 MRF MoGrip FMSCI National Supercross Championship brought high-octane action to Goa.
Organised by Godspeed Racing in association with the Sirvodem Racing Club, the event saw top riders from across the country battle for supremacy on the dirt track. The event was held on a newly designed 800-metre track -- the course a technical gauntlet, featuring 10 jumps, tabletops, whoop sections, and berms that tested the skills of over 120 riders from across India.
In the premier Class 1 (SX 1 - Group 'A' up to 500cc), Rugved Barguje of the Petronas-TVS team clinched the top spot. Riding the TVS RTR 300, Barguje secured 35 total points (20 in Moto 1 and 15 in Moto 2) to take the win. He was followed closely by teammate Ikshan Shanbhag, who finished with 33 points. Shlok Ghorpade of KTM Racing rounded out the podium in third place with 32 points on his KTM 250 SXF.
Class 2 (SX 2 - Group 'A' up to 500cc) witnessed a flawless performance by Amal Verghese from Ernakulam. Riding a Kawasaki, Verghese achieved a perfect score of 40 points by winning both motos. The Kawasaki machines dominated this category, locking out the entire top five, with Nithyan L (Coimbatore) and Basil Sunny (Ernakulam) taking second and third places, respectively.
The Class 4 (Indian Experts - Group 'B') category was a showcase of dominance for the Petronas-TVS factory team, which secured the top four positions. The battle for first was intensely close, with both Shailesh Kumar and Banteilang Jerwa finishing tied on 32 total points. Kumar, who had a better finish in the second moto, was declared the winner. Jayden W N took third place with 31 points.
In Class 3 (Novice - Group 'B'), Jayden W N (Petronas-TVS) took victory with 20 points, followed by Shailesh Kumar and Goutham VS.
Meanwhile, in Class 5 (Private Experts - Group 'B'), Abhi S Nath rode his Hero Impulse to victory with 20 points. Shaun Chhangte secured second place on a Hero Xpulse, while Arfaz Ahmed took third.
Digambar Kamat, PWD Minister and Margao MLA, was the chief guest and distributed the prizes to the podium finishers.
