Congress launches National Talent Hunt in Goa, seeks fresh voices for state and national platforms

PANAJI: The Indian National Congress has launched its National Talent Hunt in Goa, aimed at identifying and nurturing fresh voices who can represent the party at both national and state platforms.

Speaking at a press conference in Panaji today, AICC Social Media Chairman Supriya Shrinate highlighted the inclusive nature of the program. She said the initiative is not limited to party members. “If you feel strongly about an issue and want to raise your voice, this is your platform,” she said. Participation is encouraged from youth, women, Dalits, backward classes, tribals, and minorities. “We want voices from every corner of Goa, every background, every community,” she added. Applications will be accepted online from December 1 to 9, with screening on December 10 and 11, followed by physical interviews and group discussions on December 16.

The program, titled "Goenkaranchya Kallzancho Awaaz", will focus on regional concerns such as unemployment, land scams, rising crime, women’s safety, and the drug menace. Shrinate explained that the initiative aims to give Goans a platform to speak strongly and be heard. Selected candidates will have opportunities as national and state spokespersons, media coordinators, panelists, and researchers.

Speaking about the role of social media, Shrinate said, “Many young Goans are already social media savvy. We are channeling that energy and giving them a platform on mainstream national media.” She also noted that an independent jury, including civil rights activists, advocates, media professionals, and influencers, will oversee selections to ensure transparency.

Shrinate further added that participants will get opportunities to appear on TV debates, press conferences, write for print media, and take their voices to a national platform. "This is not just about joining Congress; it is about taking part in shaping discours,” she added. The party expects a strong response, with Shrinate noting, “Goans are aware, Goans are very social media savvy, and it is time Goa lent their voice to national politics. We are confident that Goa will pleasantly surprise us and produce faces who will become the voice of the Congress in the future.”

GPCC President Amit Patkar underlined the broader vision, saying, “Congress is the Idea of India. It is essential that voices from every region are heard nationally.” On inclusivity, he added, “Why can’t we have more Dalits, more OBCs, more women, more minorities in leadership? We want to grow the party, we want to grow our ideology, and we want to take our voice to the last person.”

Patkar also added that the party will meet today to decide on the alliance for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat polls, with the final decision expected during the meeting and a clear picture by 5.30 pm.
