Betalbatim Sporting Club came from behind to defeat Goa Velha Sports Club 5-4 via tiebreaker and enter the quarter-finals of All Goa Fr Basilo Andrade Memorial inter-village football tournament organized by AA De Majorda at Musson grounds, Majorda on Saturday. The teams were tied 1-1 at end of normal period.
Both the teams started the game on a sedate note.As the match progressed, both the teams adopted aggressive approach but goals eluded them. Post resumption, Betalbatim put up an improved display and repeatedly raided the rival goal but without success. Persistent forays paid off as in the 15th minute striker Borris D'Mello bulged the net.Stung by that setback, Betalbatim Sporting regrouped quickly and took the fight to the rival camp and in the 20th minute, Anthony Rodrigues cancelled the lead.As the game reached its closing stages, both teams tried hard to break the deadlock but the match-winner eluded them.
In the penalty shoot-out, Godwin Fernandes, Klusner Pereira, Sergio Fernandes and Inacio Afonso found the mark for Betalbatim Sporting while Melroy D'Silva, Dorris Rodrigues and Borris D'Mello converted for Goa Velha.
