Shubham Gajnikar smashed an unbeaten 149 and Deep Kaswankar returned with best figures of 7/13 as Bhatikar Model High School, Margao, crushed AJD AlmeidaHigh School, Ponda, by 178 runs to win the 17th Mukund Trikannad memorial inter-school cricket tournament organised by Margao Cricket Club at Dr Rajendra Prasad stadium, here.
Having been put in to bat, Bhatikar Model posted a mammoth total of 284/5 from their allotted 40 overs on a flat batting wicket. Shubham Gajinkar hit an impressive 149 runs. Sanath Nevgi (34) and Kaushal Hattangadi (28) also made useful contributions. For Almeida, Atharv Mopkar, Anuj Naik and Gaurang Gaonkar shared one wicket each.
In reply, Almeida were bundled out for 106 runs in 30.4 overs. Atharv Mopkar (35) and Vedant Kirpalkar (27) offered some resistance to the rival bowlers. Goa cricket Association secretary Daya Pagi was the chief Guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Dinesh Trikannad, Yogesh Naik, MCC President, Vinod Dhamaskar, organising secretary.
