Bhatikar Model High School, Margao beat Vidya Mandir High School, Chicalim, Vasco by 69 runs to romp into the final of the 16th Mukund Trikannand memorial Under 16 inter-school cricket tournament organised by Margao Cricket Club at Dr Rajendra Prasad Stadium, here on Friday .
Batting first, Bhatikar Model scored 160 for 4 in their stipulated 20 overs. Digesh Raikar who top scored for Bhatikar with an unbeaten 53 was ably supported by Rahul Mehta (44) and Pralav Kerkar (34). For Vidya Mandir, Saiprasad claimed 2 for 25. In reply, Vidya Mandir school struggled and were bowled out for 91 in 19 overs. Only Mahindra Pagdale scored a notable 42 while other batsmen were out cheaply. For Bhatikar, Sheel Angle and Druv Lolyekar wreaked havoc with the ball claiming three wickets each.
In another semi-final, Mahila Nutan High School, Margao scored a comfortable eight-wicket win over St Joseph's Institute, Vasco. Batting first, St Joseph's School scored 83 for 8 in 20 overs. Davik Rao top scored with 21. For Mahila Nutan, Manchit Naik and Saish Satardekar were the most successful bowlers, scalping two wickets each. In reply, Mahila Nutan won the match without any difficulty by scoring 88 for 2 wickets in 16 overs. Shreyash Gawande provided the fireworks with an unbeaten 41. Mahila Nutan High School will meet Bhatikar in the finals.
