Black Mambas defeated Varca Warriors 5-2 in Futsal Championship 2016, the launch event of the Futsal Association of Goa (FAG), at Fr Agnel Ashram Basketball court, Verna on Monday. In the opening clash of North Goa division, Street Boys and Vailankanni Boys had to settle for a 3-3 draw at Don Bosco Oratory, Panaji.
Black Mambas opened their account in the second minute with Carneiro bulging the net and then Varca Warriors restored the parity the following minute with Cleon Barreto finding the target. Carneiro had his initial close-range shot blocked but he stuck with the play and poked his effort past a helpless keeper. Varca Warriors did not drop their heads and immediately responded with a goal of their own through Cleon Barreto in the fourth minute as he finished a great team goal by tapping in at the back post.
Black Mambas then took the lead right before half-time when Carneiro tucked away a well connected pass and then went on to add three goals to his name. Black Mambas led 4-1 at half time. Arjun Vernekar scored for Varca Warriors 11 minute in to the second half. Just one minute later, A Colaco extended Black Mambas lead to 5-2 with quick and decisive passing inside the Varca Warriors penalty area.
In the following match, Lazy Boys drubbed Holy Spirit Boys 7-2 with M Fernandes emerging the Player of the Match. Meanwhile, Street Boys and Vailankanni Boys drew 3-3 in the opening match at the Don Bosco Indoor stadium in Panaji.
