Boom Boom Goa chase historic third title at Red Bull Four 2 Score National Finals in Coimbatore

PANAJI: Goa’s very own Boom Boom Goa are back on the national stage, chasing a record third title as India’s top four-a-side teams converge for the Red Bull Four 2 Score National Finals on April 11.

The high-stakes showdown will unfold at the Kumaraguru College of Technology, where ten of the country’s best teams will battle not just for national glory, but for a shot at representing India at the global finals in Toronto on August 29.

Fresh off their North Goa qualifier win, Boom Boom Goa enter as defending champions and one of the strongest contenders. They will face stiff competition from across the country, including home favourites MRFC (A), who will look to capitalise on familiar conditions, alongside Hope United (Mumbai), Emrais FC (Bengaluru), Goal Hunterz FC (Jaipur), Royal FC (Kolkata), SFC (Pune), Kalina Rangers (Kochi), Young Boys (Bhubaneswar), and Delta Strikers (South Goa).

The Coimbatore leg marks the culmination of a three-day build-up that began on April 8 with freestyle showcases, followed by the Nutmeg Challenge on April 9, spotlighting individual flair and technique. The tournament peaks with today’s national finals.

Off the pitch, the event has turned into a campus-wide football carnival, featuring 1v1 street takeovers, Volta challenges, and freestyle showcases across colleges and tech parks, underlining Coimbatore’s growing pull as a sporting hub.

At the heart of it all is the tournament’s fast-paced format. Played four-a-side without goalkeepers, each match runs for ten minutes, with a “Power Minute” twist — goals in the opening and closing 60 seconds count double. If teams are tied, it goes down to a sudden-death golden goal with just one player per side. By sunset today, only one team will emerge as champions.
