A superb second half strike by former India captain Bruno Coutinho enabled Calangute Veterans overcome Dovandem Veterans 1-0 to march into the semi-finals of All Goa Barcelona Veteran football tournament organized by Barcelona Boys at Mabai grounds, Per Seraulim on Saturday. There was no score at the break.
Calangute Veterans were well served by former national and international Bruno Coutinho who was the real threat to the rival defence as he unleashed couple of shots against the rival goal with his try missing the target narrowly. At the other end, Dovandem Veterans did lag behind in attacking the rival citadel with midfielder Anthony Fernades (Patu) unleashing a snap shot against the rival goal. However, Calangute goalkeeper was rock solid.
Post resumption, Calangute Veterans were a dominant lot with striker Bruno Coutinho mesmerizing the crowd with his artistic display and struck the match winner when he unleashed a right footer crashed into the net. Stung by that setback, Dovandem Veterans tried their best to neutralize the lead but rival defenders were alert in frustrating the attack .
