Carmona Veterans beat Verna Veterans 5-4 via tie-breaker to be crowned the champions of All-Goa Veterans Cup football tournament, organised by Chinchinim Pick-up and Drivers Association, at Church Ground, Chinchinim on Sunday.
The teams were locked in a goalless draw at the end of the regulation period. In the penalty shootout, Mario Rebello, Agnelo Colaco, Alex Alvarez, Raymond Alvarez and Charles Rodrigues converted for Carmona, while Manuel Moniz, Agnel Gomes and Rosario Colaco found the mark for Verna Veterans.
Carmona Veterans won a cash prize of Rs 30,000 while Verna Veterans bagged a prize of Rs 20,000. Joseph Dias, president of South Goa District Congress I Committee presented the prizes in the presence of Fr Jose Antonio Costa, Vicar of Our Lady of Hope Church, Chinchinim.
Individual prizes: First goal of the tournament - Pobres Colaco, Best disciplined team - Viva North, Best goalkeeper - Francisco of Nuvem Veterans, Best midfielder - Alex Alvarez of Carmona.
