CES College, Cuncolim blanked DM's College and Research Centre, Assagao 4-0 in the quarter-finals of the inter-collegiate football championship at Goa University ground, Taleigao, on Friday.
In the Second quarter final match, Rosary College, Navelim defeated St Xavier’s College, Mapusa by a score of 2-0. Mevan scored in the 35th minute give Rosary College the lead. In the second half, Rosary College doubled their lead in the 64th minute which came from Naythan Coutinho and booked their seat in the semi-finals.
At Rosary College ground, Govt. College, Sanquelim move to the semi-final after defeating Sridora Caculo College, Mapusa 5-2. In the first half, Sridora Caculo College took the initial lead in the fourth minute which was scored by Saideep Pomburphekar.
Govt. College, Sanquelim equalised in the 24th minute through Laxmanrao Rane. Three minutes later, Rane put Sanquelim in the lead. In the second half, Sanquelim started
their quick attack and netted another goal in the 52nd minute and doubled their lead through Aryan Salunke. Fighting back, Sridora Caculo College, Mapusa scored in the 54th minute through Saideep Pomburphekar to make it 3-2. Laxmanrao Rane completed his hat-trick and Uttam Sawant sealed the victory for Govt College, Sanquelim.
Fr Agnel College, Pilarr registered a comfortable 4-0 victory over MES. College, Zuarinagar. In the first half, Fr. Agnel College showed their full dominance and netted three goals where two goals were scored by Saish Gaunso and one by Mohit Santondeka. In the second half, a goal from Johann Mesquita led the Fr Agnel College to the semi-final of the championship.
In the women's championship, at Rosary College ground, Navelim, St Xavier’s College, Mapusa downed GEC, Farmagudi by a full time score of 4-0. Pushpa Parab, Leandra Fernandes, Simran Narvekar and Divyani Naik for the winners.
