Chandan, Ishita, Dheeraj, Neeza and Ruhaan shine as champions crowned

Chandan Caro, Ishita Colaso, Dheeraj Rai, Neeza Kamat and Ruhaan Shaikh emerged winners in their respective categories at the YMCA Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament held at the Indoor Stadium, Campal, organised by YMCA Panjim in aegis with the Goa Table Tennis Association.

Chandan bagged a double, clinching the Boys U15 title by beating Dhruva Kamat 3-0 (11-5, 11-5, 11-9) and the Boys U17 crown with a 3-1 win over Rishan Shaikh (11-7, 11-7, 8-11, 11-4), before repeating the result against Rishan in the U19 final 3-1 (11-6, 11-6, 10-12, 11-7).

Ishita too picked up multiple trophies, winning the Girls U15 final against Aarna Lotlikar 3-0 (11-5, 11-7, 11-6), the Girls U17 final against Pradnya Caro in a close 3-2 battle (8-11, 11-2, 11-8, 6-11, 11-8), and the Women’s crown with a convincing 3-0 win over Urvi Surlakar (11-3, 11-7, 11-5). Veteran Dheeraj Rai, making a strong comeback, claimed the Men’s title with a dominant 4-0 victory against 13-year-old sensation Ruhaan Shaikh (13-11, 11-3, 11-9, 11-7). In the Girls U19 final, Neeza Kamat overcame Urvi Surlakar 3-1 (8-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-8).

The age-group events produced spirited performances, with Ruhaan Shaikh capturing the Boys U13 crown by defeating Vedant Wagle 3-0 (11-8, 11-9, 11-6), while Aayushi Amonkar edged out Sachi Dessai 3-2 (11-8, 3-11, 7-11, 11-4, 11-8) in the Girls U13 final. In the U11 category, Ishaan Colaso beat Ashank Dalvi 3-1 (13-11, 6-11, 11-5, 11-6) in the Boys final, while the Girls title went to Anaya Shukla, who survived a thrilling 3-2 decider against Shaurya Dessai (11-4, 6-11, 9-11, 11-5, 11-6).

Meanwhile, in the Veterans Doubles (Elite), Roseline Bunyan and Vikas Prabhu overcame Guruprasad Namshikar and Hanisha Gopani 3-1 (13-11, 11-13, 11-8, 13-11), while in the Veterans Doubles (Masters), Amogh Namshikar and Yusuf Shaikh secured a 3-0 win over Leslie Noronha and Roshan Naik (11-8, 11-7, 11-7).
