Chinchinim Veterans edged past Curtorim Veterans 3-2 and entered the semi-finals of All Goa Flame of Unity Veterans football tournament organized by Flame of Unity Sports Club, Per Seraulim at Mabai grounds, Per Seraulim on Thursday.Both the teams were tied 2-2 at half time.
In an evenly contested match, both the teams displayed attacking brand of soccer and kept the crowds on their toes. Chinchinim Veterans were well served by former international and national players and asserted the midfield supremacy.Former India midfielder Mario Soares put Chinchinim Veterans into the lead in the 10th minute.However, their joy was short lived when Mohammed Bepari neutralized the lead.Stung by that equalizer, Chinchinim Veterans went into attacking mode and Jerry Fernandes put his team into the lead. Seby Vaz equalized at the stroke of half time.
After the break, Chinchinim Veterans put up an improved display and troubled the rival defence with sharp raids. With match heading for tiebreaker, Marcelino Pinto struck the match winner late in the second half to troop out worthy winners.
