Chowgule, MCC, and Dempo dominate

The fourth round of the Goa Premier Division League, organised by the Goa Cricket Association, commenced on Sunday. Chowgule Sports Club, Margao Cricket Club, and Dempo Cricket Club dominated the opening day's play. In all three matches, the bowlers delivered impressive performances and kept the opposition under pressure.

At Chicalim SAG Ground, after bundling out Panjim Gymkhana for 101 runs in the first innings, Chowgule Sports Club scored 213 runs to take a lead. For Panjim Gymkhana, Shadab Khan played a fighting knock of 45 runs, while Chowgule's Shubham Desai rattled the opposition with 7 wickets for 29 runs. In reply, Madhur (42), Felix Alemao (37) and Shubham Tari (unbeaten 36) made valuable contributions to help Chowgule gain the lead. Mohit Redkar bowled brilliantly for Panjim Gymkhana, taking 6 wickets for 60 runs. In the second innings, Panjim Gymkhana were 18 for 2 in 5 overs and still trailing.

At Porvorim GCA Academy Ground, Margao Cricket Club piled up a strong total of 293 runs in the first innings against Salgaocar Cricket Club. Deepraj Gaonkar (81), Umang Gosavi (71), and Aryan Narvekar (39) were the main contributors with the bat. For Salgaocar, Ruthvik Naik took 6 wickets for 54 runs. In reply, Salgaocar reached 47 for 2 in 12 overs and were still trailing by a big margin.

Meanwhile, at the NAPEX ground, Dempo Cricket Club gained the advantage against Geno Sports Club. Dempo dismissed Geno for 121 runs. Manthan Khutkar scored 29, while Veer Yadav added 19 runs. For Dempo, Rahul Mehta, Abhinav Tej Rana, and Samit Aryan Mishra took two wickets each. In reply, Dempo scored 129 for 3 in 48 overs to take a lead. Sarthak Bhike scored a patient 54, while Abhinav Tej Rana contributed 36 runs. All three matches still have two days remaining.
