Saraswat Tigers, Avengers secure narrow wins

Two closely contested matches marked Day 8 of the Sarsangan Priority Super Series Cricket 2026 at Arlem Cricket Ground, with Saraswat Tigers and Desserts n More (DnM) Avengers registering hard-fought victories.

In the opening match, Saraswat Tigers continued their strong form, clinching their third consecutive win with a 16-run victory over CD Fountainheads. Batting first, the Tigers put up an imposing 185/9 in 20 overs, powered by key contributions from Atchut Naik Dalal (27), Sanat Mhapne (36), Prasheel Kamat (30) and Kartik Hattangadi (22). For CD Fountainheads, Arsh Sardesai impressed with the ball, taking 3 for 21, while several teammates chipped in with a wicket each.

Chasing 186, CD Fountainheads fought hard but failed to build lasting partnerships. Amod Borkar (40) and Arsh Sardesai (48) led the resistance, but the team was bowled out for 169 in 19.3 overs. Neelay Naik Dalal starred with the ball for Saraswat Tigers, claiming 2 for 25, with support from the rest of the bowling unit. Sanat Mhapne was named Man of the Match for his all-round contribution.

In the second match, Desserts n More Avengers edged past Priority Titans by 15 runs in another thrilling encounter. Batting first, DnM Avengers were bowled out for 173 in 19 overs, with useful knocks from Anish Mahambre (25), Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar (28) and Sagar Salgaocar (13). Dinesh Pai led the bowling effort for Priority Titans with an excellent 4 for 20.

In reply, Priority Titans mounted a determined chase despite an early setback. Durgesh Prabhugaonkar (32) and Sanat Prabhudesai (23) steadied the innings, while Raunak Nargundker (29) kept hopes alive. However, they eventually fell short, finishing at 158 for 20 overs. Dr. Sagar Salgaocar delivered a decisive spell of 2 for 17 and was named Man of the Match for his impactful performance.

At the halfway stage of the tournament, Saraswat Tigers sit atop the points table with 7 points, followed closely by Sinq Rangers (7). MLT Cricket Club and CD Fountainheads have 6 points each, while Priority Titans are on 5. Progressive Ponda, DnM Avengers and FPA Maxvolt XI occupy the lower positions in the standings.
