Churchill Brothers FC clinched a commanding 3-1 win against Panjim Footballers in the GFA Goa Professional league, at SAG Trinity ground, Benaulim, on Saturday
The game commenced with an exhibition of sheer determination from both sides. It was Churchill Brothers swiftly capitalised in the 32nd minute when Kangujam Singh's stunning shot crashed into the net.
Spurred by the success, Churchill Brothers FC intensified their attacks and Lalawpuia Sailo slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot. Panjim Footballers determined for a comeback, launched an aggressive first half offensive. Lalawpuia Sailo struck once again to register a brace.
As the game went on, Churchill Brothers continued with their attacking movements and created number of chances but lacked the finishing touches.
As the clock ticked down, both teams had their share of opportunities. Panjim Footballers substitute Teron Fernandes unleashed a long-range effort that found the roof of the net in the 70th minute.
At Ella ground, Dempo Sports Club and Sporting Clube de Goa played out a drab draw.
In GFA Second Division League, St. Anthony SC Assolda defeated UC Telaulim 3-0. Guirdolim Club eased past Deao Sports Club 2-0. PVC Parra scored a comfortable 3-0 win over Assonora SC XI. Carmel SC ran riot over Our Lady of Gloria SC with a 5-1 win.
In GFA Third Division League, BITS Pilani scored a comfortable 5-2 win over Ace Sports Academy. Bhagwati SC humbled Aivao United 7-0.
In GFA U-13 Div II League, Sarzora Sports Club edged past Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda 2-1.
In another match, St. Francis Xavier Sports Club Gonvol Xeldem got walkover after Wilred Leisure SC failed to report at the venue.
