Churchill Brothers Sports Club and Calangute Association played out a goalless draw in the GFA Pro League at 3MTR ground, Navelim on Saturday.

Churchill Brothers troubled their rivals with Pankaj Sona and Sandeep Subba causing problems for the rival defence in the initial period of the game. On the other hand, Calangute Association made threatening moves through Pedro Gonsalves and Yogesh Kadam to keep the Churchill defence on its toes.

In early action, Sunny Fernandes of Calangute Association rolled the ball to Yogesh in the third minute but the latter's move was cut short by Churchill defender Mildfred Rebello with a neat tackle. Meanwhile, Churchill's Pankaj muffed an easy chance with only the rival goalkeeper as he shot wide in the 6th minute. Pankaj was in action again as he found a fine cross from Sande Subba from the left flank but his header went wide in the 10th minute.

Churchill's next notable move came in the 26th minute as Pankaj played a ball to Sandeep but his effort was foiled by Calangute defender Bonny Niasso. Calangute then played a tricky move through Bonny and Sunny Fernandes, leaving Churchill defender Suraj foxed but Sunny's shot lacked power and the rival goalkeeper made an easy save. Churchill had a golden opportunity to go ahead in the 41st minute. Striker Samson Fernandes sent in an inch-perfect cross to midfielder Sandeep Subba but the latter's header hit the Calangute goalpost.

The second half saw Churchill Brothers field Doyl D'Silva but the substitute hardly found any supplies throughout the second half. Doyl beautifully connected the ball to Pankaj but the latter failed to score in the 49th minute. Calangute missed their best chance of the match as despite having an open net for himself, Agnelo Colaco shot wide, off the target.
