Cuncolim scrape into finals

Cuncolim Union prevailed over Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda 5-2 via the tiebreaker to move into the finals of the 18th Bro Eulailo Vaz Memorial football tournament organised by Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda at Don Bosco Engineering ground, Fatorda.
Both the teams showed attacking intent but it was Don Bosco Oratory who started dictating terms soon. Their lanky striker Necil Pinto picked up the ball from Francis Andrade and his shot kissed the post in the second minute.
At the other end, Cuncolim Union attacked through striker Bharat Gaonkar, whose long ranger got deflected by rival defender Roque Borges and Alfred Noronha had to produce a goal-line save to keep the scoreline goalless.
Cuncolim Union's breakthrough though came in the fourth minute when central defender Micky Fernandes received the ball from Frazier and the latter unleashed a left-footed drive that crashed into the net. Cuncolim Union then suffered a setback as Necil Pinto neutralised the lead with a stiff shot. The reducer boosted the morale of Fatoda lads as they mounted more pressure on the rival citadel. And two minutes later, Francis Andrade made it 2-1 with a left-footed drive that beat the rival goalkeeper.
Post resumption, Don Bosco Oratory were dictating the terms and made many moves but it yielded no result. With the time running out, Cuncolim Union made last-ditch efforts and Bharat Gaonkar levelled the scores. Cuncolim Union had the last laugh in the penalty shootout.

Sporting Club of Davorlim registered a fluent 2-0 win over Guirdolim Sports Club to march into the semi-finals of All Goa 10th Fr Agnel Soccer at Paroda ground,
on Sunday.
Sporting Club of Davorlim scored the opener through a penalty in the 18th minute after Paxton Gomes was brought down by a rival defender. Paxton took the spot kick to send the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Post resumption, Guridolim had two scoring chances but Ivon Pinto squandered them. With time running out, Mark Borges sealed the rivals' fate in the 40th minute.
