Curtorim Gymkhana reach Super Soccer semis

Curtorim Gymkhana beat Navelim Villagers Union 1-0 to enter the semifinals of the 16th Super Soccer football tournament organised by United Club of Benaulim at St John the Baptist Dando ground, Benaulim.

The lone goal of the match was netted by Marcus Fernandes in the 20th minute. Despite Navelim's efforts to stage a comeback in the second half, Curtorim's solid defence, led by keeper Floyd Hilario, held them at bay.

Marcus Fernandes was named the Man of the Match and he was awarded by Constancio Paul, GFA executive committee member.

Western India Karate Championship at Navelim
The Traditional Karate Association of Goa (TKAG) will host the 3rd WIKA Karate Championship at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Navelim from August 25-27, in both Kata and Kumite disciplines.

Over a thousand participants from Goa, Maharashtra, Gujrat, Rajasthan, Daman & Diu, Madhya Pradesh and Chattishgarh will take part in the event. The competition will be held under World Karate Federation rules and over 60 WKF and AKF and KIO referees will officiate. The competition is open for public viewing.

Marina English HS reach finals
Marina English High School, Verna defeated Mae Dos Pobres High School, Nuvem 1-0 to move into the final of the Sr Benardine Memorial U-17 boys football tournament at Perpetual Convent High School, Navelim ground on Wednesday.

Sheldon netted the match-winner for Marina English in the 12th minute. In another semifinal, Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School, Verna defeated Our Lady of Health High School, Cuncolim 3-0 and moved into the final. Ismael, Jaden and Alex netted a goal each for Fr Agnel.
