Curtorim Gymkhana came out firing on all the cylinders and played their hearts out to register a 4-2 win over Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda 4-2 and move into the final of All Goa 44th Custodio Memorial inter village football tournament organised by Raia Sporting Club at Panchayat grounds, Raia on Saturday. Curtorim Gym led 2-0 at the break.The highlight of the day was a brilliant brace by Melvin Fernandes.
Curtorim who played to a plan and attacked cleverly and opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Marcus Fernandes. Buoyed by the lead, Curtorim upped their ante and got a second in the 30th minute when striker Melvin punted the ball to the far corner of the net. The match seemed to be done and dusted at this point as Don Bosco Oratory lacked the will to fight back.
However, Curtorim's defense became a bit jittery after change of ends as DBO pressed and managed to pull one back through the boots of Joel Camara. After conceding the goal, Curtorim Gymkhana raised their level of play and put the issue beyond doubt when Melvin Fernandes struck second time to give his team a 3-1 cushion. Agnelo Martins made it 4-1 in favour of Curtorim in the 59th minute.With time running out, Ashley Araujao reduced the deficit in the dying minute of the game.
