MARGAO
The Independence Day Archery Competition 2026, organised by Fr Agnel Central School in collaboration with Zito Archery Club, saw archers compete across various distance and age categories.
David Fernandes emerged as the highest scorer of the day and received a cash prize of Rs 5,000.
In the 10m girls category, Rashmi Dhaushkar secured first place, followed by Nanditha S and Deetya Shirodkar. Gandhar Alavant topped the 10m boys category.
Ashkenaz Maselkar won the 15m girls category, with Arika Vasta and Adhaya Naik finishing second and third respectively. Bhavesh Bhandari took first place in the 15m boys category.
At 30m, Arushi Aglave won the girls category ahead of Adhya Navelkar and Sawni Kapolkar, while David Fernandes topped the boys section, followed by Amogh Navelkar and Elvin George.
Rebecca Fernandes won the 40m girls category, with Aarchee Mane second and Naisha third. Bhagyayati Naik and Fatima finished first and second respectively in the 50m girls category, while Shirpaad Desai won the 50m boys category.
David Fernandes of Zito Archery Club also felicitated archers who participated in the First Indoor Archery National Tournament 2026.
The competition was sponsored by Donald Fernandes of Street Providence, Celinda Sequeira of Cross Craft, Johnny Silveira of UC/Curtorim, Depak and Usha Navelkar, Jowker Jeswan D’Costa of Chicalim/UK and Praveen George of Old Goa.
The event was compered by Larissa Fernandes, while Depak Navelkar was the chief guest.
