DBO Fatorda 2 beat Goa Velha SC 1

Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda defeated Goa Velha SC 2-1 to enter the finals of 28th All Goa St Annes Inter-Village Festival Soccer 2016 in memory of Luis Pacheco organized by Ponda Footballers in affiliation with SAG and Quadros held at Animal Husbandry grounds, Curti-Ponda.
DBO dominated the match for most part of the match but due to slippery conditions, Goa Velha could not play to their potential. It was only after Vishant reduced the margin that Goa Velha displayed attacking soccer. Fatorda took a 2-0 lead in the first half through Joel Camara and Mackwin Soares while Vishant Pednekar reduced the margin.
In the 8th minute, Fatorda made the first move of the match as Roque from top of the box shot but Goa Velha keeper punched out. At other end, Vishant gave a through pass to Ezekiel but he ballooned over. Fatorda took the lead as Savio’s shot deflected off a defender and the return ball fell at the feet of Joel whose shot beat the diving keeper, 1-0. Soon, Fatorda increased the lead when Ashley chipped the ball to Mackwin who beat the off-side trap and scored.
In the second half, Goa Velha's Markal shot beat the keeper but the ball got stuck in the water and the keeper collected it.
At other end, Jason's cross nearly entered the goal but Goa Velha keeper punched out. Goa Velha got a penalty as the keeper blocked Yogendra and the resultant penalty Vishant scored. Craston the essayed a solo as his shot was punched out by Goa Velha keeper.
Don Bosco Oratary will now take on Parish Youth Nuvem in the finals on on July 31 to mark the St Annes’ Feast. There will also be an exhibition match between Nuvem Veterans and Ponda Veterans at 3.30pm. Social worker Sashikant Shirodkar gave away Quadros Hero prize to Arun Naik of Goa Velha.
