DBO lift 44th Seamen football Trophy

Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda edged past Goa Velha Sports Club 2-1 to clinch the 44th Seamen Trophy inter village football tournament organized by Chandor Club in an pulsating final at Chandor Ground, on Sunday. All the goals came in the first half.

Don Bosco Oratory raised visions of breaking down the Goa Velha Sports Club defence by dominating the proceedings in the opening session.
Don Bosco Oratory struck in the 5th minute as striker Necil Pinto punished the rival goalkeeper with a clinical finish. At the other end, Goa Velha Sports Club were struggling initially to grasp the pace of the game and had a chance to level the score though Chatur Naik muffed a sitter.
After those minor hiccups, Don Bosco Oratory stitched together neat passing bouts and kept the rival defenders on the back foot as Francis Andrade scored the consolation goal with his left footed drive that crashed into the net in the 7th minute. Down by 0-2, Goa Velha Sports Club went into attacking mode and in the 20th minute, striker Chatur Naik who atoned his earlier miss, beat the rival goalkeeper with a clinical finish. Post resumption, both the teams showed aggressive approach and started building up momentum and stole the possession but goals eluded them. Both teams had equal number of scoring chances but their forwards squandered easy chances. However, Don Bosco Oratory could have done much better in terms of scoreline with numerous missed opportunities.
Don Bosco Oratory,Fatorda bagged Rs 44,000 and a glittering trophy while Goa Velha Sports Club were richer by Rs 34,000 and a trophy. Vijay Sardessai, TCP Minister was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias, Fr Simao Rodrigues, Parish Priest, Chandor Church, Meenakshi Gauncar, Zilla Parishad Member, Welvin Menezes, Hon Secretary of GFA, Evancio Quadros,CEO ,Quadros Automobiles, GFA Executive members, Anthony Pango and Bishuit Themudo.

Geno Goan Gladiators for Doctors’ National League

Geno Goan Gladiators will participate in the first-ever All India Doctors league 20/20 cricket tournament to be held at Hyderabad from Sept 28 to Oct 2, 2017. The matches will be played at the Babu Khan ground and the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium ground at Hyderabad.
