Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda walloped Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club 3-0 to advance into the quarter-finals of All Goa 7th Cuncolim Union Rolling Trophy inter-village football tournament, organised by Cuncolim Union at Government School play grounds, Cuncolim on Monday. Don Bosco Oratory led 2-0 at half time.
Don Bosco Oratory worked on fitness and speed and put Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club on the mat for greater part of the game. Persistent forays in the early phase paid off as Ashley Araujao slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot off a cross from Minguel Baretto.
Buoyed by the success, Don Bosco Oratory intensified their attacks and doubled the lead in the 12th minute when Clencio Pinto unleashed a stiff shot which crashed into the net.
Down by 0-2, Sao Jose de Areal went into attacking mode and troubled the rival defence with well-orchestrated raids.
However, Sao Jose de Areal had a chance to reduce the margin but Rayman Fernandes muffed gilt-edged scoring chance with only rival goalie Luis Dias to beat.
Post resumption, Don Bosco Oratory continued to dictate and enjoy the better share of exchanges and fired some scorchers at the rival goal but in vain. Midway in the second half, Sao Jose de Areal conjured goal-scoring opportunites but Agio Antao and Alvito Moura blasted wide from ideal position.
With time running out, Don Bosco Oratory sealed the rival fate when Joel Camara punished the rival goalkeeper with a neat finish.
