A fine all-round performance from Shubham Dessai helped Dempo Juniors to record a seven-run win over Lapaz Gardens Cricket Club in the final of 18th Sanguem T20 cricket tournament, organised by Sanguem Cricketers, at Sanguem Sports Complex, Sanguem on Sunday.
Dempo Juniors scored 142 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Harmet Singh smashed 28 runs while Ishan Gadekar (25), Shubham Dessai (23) and Shubham Dessai (21) were the other top scorers. For Lapaz Gardens, Chirag Khurnana grabbed 3 for 23. In reply, Lapaz Gardens were bundled out for 135 in 19 .4 overs.
Chirag Khuranna (57) was the only batsman to stay long at the crease and kept Lapaz in the game. Dempo Juniors bowlers Sagar Gosavi (2-24), Sayed Badizumma (2-16), Shubham Desai (1-30) and Harmeet Singh (1-26) got the wickets for their team.
Dempo Juniors were richer by Rs 75,000 while Lapaz Gardrens CC bagged a cash prize of Rs 45,000. Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Rumaldo Fernandes, chairperson of Sanguem Municipal Council, Balkrishna Hodarkar, Councillor of Curchorem Municipal Council, Siddhesh Bhise, Chandan Unandkar
and Ashish Karmalkar.
