From the start, Dempo SC dominated with regular attacks on the rival goal and they were successful in the 14th minute, as they took the lead through Aaron Alvares off Vineet Bugde's free-kick. A minute later, the scoreline should have been 2-0 but Bugde's strike from outside the 18-yard box, went wide missing the target by a few inches.
Dempo SC doubled their lead in the 30th minute as Desman Pereira flicked the ball to Boris de Melo, who made no mistake to send his strike into the back of the net. A minute later, Iccryl Mascarenhas set Boris, who ran into the 18-yard box and scored his second goal of the match.
The Panjim defence were kept under pressure as Dempo kept pressing with probing attacks. In the 36th minute, Bugde placed a fine cross into the box to Desman Pereira, who headed it on target but goalkeeper Karol Soares sent it off a corner. In the next minute, Boris' strike hit a Panjim defender's leg, and Bugde pounced on the chance, making it 4-0.
Panjim Footballers did not create anything worth a note, however, Richard Cardozo's cross in the 40th minute was well cleared by the Dempo defence. Dempo went into the half time interval with 4-0 lead. Crossing over, Dempo SC added another goal to their tally as Edwin Viegas tapped home off Bugde's free-kick in the 53rd minute.
The first chance for Panjim Footballers came in the 66th minute as substitute Lloyd Mascarenhas passed the ball to Aman Govekar but the latter shot over the crossbar. Dempo defence stood strong with Nikhil Gaurang and Edwin not allowing the Panjim forwards to enter the box. At the other end, Dempo forward Desman missed a golden chance of scoring as he shot high from close. In the 80th minute, Abhyuday Sabharwal of Panjim made an impressive run easing past two defenders but his pass to Lloyd, saw the latter shoot wide.
Bugde of Dempo SC found himself in a one-on-one situation in the 84th minute, but failed to convert as rival goalkeeper Karol Soares cleared it for safety.
