Dempo Sports Club scored a convincing 4-1 win over Guardian Angel Sports Club in the Goa Football Association Goa Professional League at Ela ground, Old Goa, on Wednesday.
Jaison Vaz scored a hat-trick while Joaquim Abranches was the other goal-scorer for Dempo. Sunny Fernandes managed to get on to the score-sheet for Guardian Angel SC.
By virtue of this win, Dempo SC move on to 32 points from 14 games while Guardian Angel SC remain in the seventh position with 19 points from 16 games.
Playing at their home ground, Dempo SC broke the deadlock in the 18th minute when Kritikesh played in a cross from the left flank which was brilliantly guided home by Joaquim Abranches, who is improving in form.
In the 50th minute some individual brilliance from Jaison Vaz saw Dempo SC inflate their lead to 2-0. Once up by two goals, Dempo SC played a composed game which saw them outplay their opponents with the play on the flanks. At the hour mark, Jaison scored his second goal before completing his treble in the 82nd minute when he made a simple tap in from Suraj’s cross.
The Golden Eagles were unfortunate to concede a late goal in the 84th minute when Sunny Fernandes’ shot was guided in by a desperate clearance attempt made by Jessel.
