Dunes Sports Club came back from a goal down to scrape past United Club of Telaulim on a 2-1 scoreline in GFA’S Geno First Division League played at Duler Stadium on Monday.

The Telaulim colts went into the breather with a one-goal lead against their opponents through Ruflon

Fernandes.

However, Dunes came back strongly in the second session and scored through Devendra Pednekar and Shashank Ashwekar.

As early as in the 30th second of the game, Telaulim’s Ruflon Fernandes latched onto a blistering strike from outside the penalty box but Dunes keeper

Alison Fernandes brought about a diving save. In the fifth minute, Dunes

almost surged ahead when Eljoy Fernandes sent a cross to Jason Fernandes, whose tap at the goal was cleared on the goal-line by Richard Mascarenhas.

In the 11th minute, Telaulim’s Kishan Borcar sent a long ball to Ruflon Fernandes, who lobbed

the ball over an on rushing Dunes keeper Alison to make it 1-0. Five minutes later, Telaulim almost doubled their lead, when a lob shot by Janak Kudmal was heading on goal when keeper

Alison dived to save it.

Dunes lost a golden opportunity of leveling terms in the 38th minute when Telaulim’s Richard fumbled with the

ball inside the penalty box and the ball traveled to Alberto Britto whose strike was blocked by keeper Bryce Pereira.

On crossing over, in the 49th minute, Dunes’ Devendra Pednekar found his skipper Shashank

Ashwekar just on top of the six yard box, who surprisingly failed to score. However, in the 61st minute, Dunes

got their equaliser when a 30-yard shot by Devendra Pednekar dipped into the

far corner of the goal to make it 1 -1.

Telaulim’s Jesmon Soares was sent off by referee Shivram Thanekar for using foul language on him.

Dunes extended their lead in the 75th minute when a direct free-kick by Shashank

Ashwekar brushed keeper Bryce’s hand and entered

the goal to make it 2-1.

In added time, Dunes’ Alberto Britto was given marching orders by the referee for deliberately kicking his

opponent.
