FC Betim emerged victorious, defeating Red Devil Anjuna 2-1 in a tie-breaker round at the 1st All Goa 5-a-side tournament organised by the Baga Boys at Baga.
In the final round played between FC Betim and Red Devil Anjuna the match ended goalless. FC Betim won the tie-breaker 2-1 to claim the winner's trophy, cash of Rs 15,000 and gold medals for the players, which were handed over by chief guest Samir Naik, former Indian football team captain. Runners-up Red Devil were awarded with a trophy, cash prize of Rs 10,000 and silver medals for the players.
A total of 36 teams from all over the state took part in this tournament. The match duration for the tournament was fixed at 15 minutes -- two halves of seven minutes each and one minute of added time.
Siddhesh Salgoankar of Red Devil was the first scorer of the final and also named hero of the tournament. The fair play award went to Contact Five Colvale, best defender was Ravi of FC Betim, while Dattaraj Kalangutkar of Tandel to Game Khobrawaddo was named emerging player of the tournament. Sahil of Sim Boys was the highest scorerof the tournament.
Vishwanath Nagvekar compered the tournament. AIFF referee Sainath Haldankar was the referee for the tournament. Former footballers Santosh Pednekar, Digambar Haldankar, Dilip Govekar, social worker Kabir Shirodkar, Devidas alias Bhava Redkar, Chandrakant Asgoankar and others were also present.
