A superb hat-trick by striker Joybert Ronald Almeida helped FC Goa hammer Churchill Brothers Sports Club 5-0 in the Goa Zone of All India Football Federation Under-18 Youth League tie at SAG ground, Utorda on Friday.
FC Goa were in total control of the game as they teased and tormented the Churchill Brothers players and kept the opposition goalkeeper busy throughout the match.
It was a matter of time when FC Goa would score and they made it 1-0 in the 29th minute. Joybert cut in from the right and took his time before unleashing the sweetest of strikes as he placed his left-footer into the corner of the net.
More chances followed and Romario’s placement hit the crossbar as Joybert carved open the Churchill defence who somehow managed to prevent the young Gaurs from scoring their chances.
Churchill then slowly started to create their own moves and had two scoring chances but Flan Gomes and Mario Carvalho were denied by the FC Goa goalie. Joybert then scored the second goal in the 36th minute with a clinical finish as FC Goa carried a 2-0 advantage into the break.
Crossing over, FC Goa showed their quality by scoring more goals and the Churchill Brothers coach could only look on as his team were thoroughly outplayed by the young Gaurs.
Romario Costa, who was in thick of action, added his name on the scorers list in the 48th minute before scoring his second in the 65th minute, 4-0. Joybert deservedly had his hat-trick as FC Goa finished with a convincing
5-0 win.
