MARGAO: FC Siolim booked their spot in the quarterfinals of the 27th All Goa Our Lady of Merces 8-A-Side Inter-Village Football Tournament with a comfortable 2-0 win over Dicarpale SC.
Siolim wasted little time in asserting themselves, with Roanak Toraskar opening the scoring in the fourth minute. The lead was doubled in the 28th minute when Vishank Dhargalkar calmly converted a penalty after he was fouled inside the box by Piedad Colaco.
Trailing by two goals, Dicarpale SC pressed hard in the second half in search of a comeback, but FC Siolim's defence remained resolute. Goalkeeper Prajot Phadte played a key role, producing a series of assured saves to preserve his clean sheet as the contest ended without further goals.
With the victory, FC Siolim advanced to the quarterfinals, where they will face Navelim Villagers Union.
