Fighting Stars, Selection and Global Estate Consultancy emerged first, second and third respectively at the GCCI Cup Table Tennis Team Championship (qualifying round) at indoor stadium, Campal, Panaji.
These teams have made it into the Super 6 stage where they will join Electrotech, Nirman Construction Company and Dhume Electricals in the Super 6. This is the 7th edition of the GCCI Cup organised by Panjim Table Tennis Club in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa, and is an initiative of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The young Fighting Stars outfit, comprising of Advait Mudras, Tania Patil, Nilay Kamat, Akshan Lawande along with senior player Tanay Kaisary won all their five league matches to emerge top
of the table.
The Selection Team which had in its ranks Deepak Gopani, Arya Divekar, Aaron Colaco, Sagar Kulkarni and Gagnesh Dhulapkar, beat Global Estate Consultancy (Sneha Mesta, Priyam Redkar, Noel Estibeiro, Ved Sardessai, Chaitanya Tarcar and Pranav Naik) 3-1 to leap over their opponents in the Super Six.
Hosts Panjim TT Club were upset 3-2 by Hilson Chemicals to lose out on the qualifying berth. Chaitanya Tarcar, President of Goa Veterans Table Tennis Association, Selvyn Godinho, Secretary of Panjim TT Club, Gaurang Bhangui, Chief Referee, Amey Lawande, Executive Member of GTTA and Deepak Gopani, Treasurer of GVTTA, graced the inaugural function.
