A 52nd-minute strike by striker Joel Camara helped Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda overcome Guardian Angel Sports Club 1-0 to advance into the quarter-finals of All Goa 44th Custodio Memorial inter village football tournament organized by Raia Sporting Club at Panchayat ground, Raia on Sunday. There was no score at lemon break.
Both the teams adopted aggressive approach and kept the crowds on their toes. As the match progressed, Don Bosco Oratory took control of the game with veteran midfielder Francis Andrade spraying his forwards flawless passes and kept them busy. Don Bosco Oratory nearly broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when Francis Andrade unleashed a left footed drive which was well dealt by Guardian Angel Sports Club goalkeeeper Joel Coutinho.
At the other hand, Guardian Angel did not lag behind and created many forays into the rival penalty area and nearly surged ahead in the 20th minute but Austin Fernandes try was well blocked by Don Bosco Oratory goalkeeeper.
Post resumption, Don Bosco Oratory were more dominant with their forwards troubling the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. They intently sought the match winner. Francis Andrade was in thick of action as he made a lot of interceptions, dashing with speed and looked dangerous going forward.
The match winner came in the 52nd minute when Francis Andrade found striker Joel Camara free and the last named beat the rival goalkeeeper with a rasping shot. Despite consistent pressure from Guardian Angel Sports Club, Don Bosco Oratory managed to hold the match and troop out worthy winners.
