Guardian Angel SC beat Santa Cruz Society Poitomado Cuncolim to enter the finals of 10th Lotoulim Panchayat Cup, organised by SCC Lotoulim, at Montir ground, Lotoulim, on Friday.
In a exciting semi-final played at Lotoulim ground, it was the Guardian Angel who had the first chance to take the lead in 10th minute as Ivo Costa's powerful shot from the box hit the Cuncolim defender and went away for corner. Meanwhile, Daulat Dessai of Cuncolim was well fed by Shivam Velip but his attempt was saved by the Guardian Angel goalkeeper and till the half time both teams remained on goalless draw.
After resumption, Adrian Gomes of Guardian Angel was well fed by Norman Dias but his header missed the target in the 26th minute. Cuncolim Viraj Velip's long ranger from outside the box was out of target in the 30th minute.
The winning goal came from the boots of Guardian Angel Norman Dias as his shot beat the Cuncolim goalkeeper and hit the side pole and went in the net in the 35th minute.
After the goal, Cuncolim tried hard to find the equaliser but Guardian Angel defence stood firm and denied the equaliser.
Guardian Angel SC will now meet Verna in the finals on May 18. Norman Dias of Guardian Angel SC was awarded man of the match by Club member Francisco Fernandes.
