GBA to conduct open trials for U-16

The Goa Basketball Association will conduct open selection trials in the Youth (U-16) category for boys and girls at the Goa University outdoor basketball courts on Thursday at 10.30 am.

Those born on or after 1-1-1999 are eligible to attend trials. The Open trials will be conducted for the benefit of players who for some reason or the other have been unable to participate in the State Youth Championship conducted at Loyola High School Court, Margao from August 18 to 21.

Probables will be picked at the trials to undergo training at an advanced coaching camp to select and prepare the State teams which will participate at the National Youth Championship slated to be conducted by the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) at Bhavnagar, Gujarat, from September 14 to 20, 2015.

Meanwhile the association’s selection committee has also shortlisted probables based on performance at the State Youth Championship.Following are the probables selected to attend the advanced coaching camp:

Boys: Asit Dessai, Rayan Shaikh (The King’s School); Kabir Morajkar, Ray Cortez (Don Bosco HSS, Panaji); Blake Da Costa, Reuben Fernandes, Stalin Braganza, Jonathan D’Sa (Loyola HS, Margao); Mark Noronha, Nathan D’Sa, Arash D’Costa (Fr Agnel HSS, Verna); Xavier Dias, Abednego Pinto, Joshua Pinto (Lourdes Convent, Saligao); Manguesh G, Manjunath G, Tejas Tawde, Amay Phadte (Antruz, Ponda); Shawn Aranjo, B Ferrao and Brandon Gabriel (Don Bosco HS, Panaji).

Girls:Precila Pires (Fr Agnel HS, Verna); Elaine Fernandes, Megan De Souza, Shakshi Gaude (Mary Immaculate Girls HS, Panaji); Lira Mesquita, Shaikh Ibtisam (The King’s School); Shimei Nathan Saachia Nathan, Ashwini Toraskar (Lourdes Convent, Saligao); Analisa De Noronha, Eudoka Sequeira, Clarita Lopes, Rachel Raposa, Melany Gonsalves (Fr Agnel HSS, Verna); Michelle De Noronha, Amisha R Lotlikar, Leanne Pereira, Wallemia Cardozo and Chryselle Gomes (Fatima Convent HS, Margao).
