Goan Football Club registered a 4-1 win over Dunes Sports Club Mandrem in the finals of the GFA U-14 League (Bardez zone) played at Duler ground, here on Monday.
In a well contested first session, the teams went into the breather locked in a 1-1 draw. Earlier in the league encounter, Goan FC had drubbed Dunes SC by a 5-0 margin.
The Young Gaurs surged ahead in the 13th minute when Bryson Pereira sent a neat through pass to his skipper Rohan Mangaonkar, who beat the onrushing keeper with an adroit placement, 1-0. After some minutes of midfield tussle, Dunes levelled the terms. In the 22nd minute, Aryan Vast scored with his fine individual brilliance after carrying the ball almost from the centre, 1-1.
Just three minutes into the second session and Young Gaurs once again took the lead. Medio Prachit Gaunkar sent an intelligent through pass to Clison Furtado, who after covering some ground drilled a low shot into the far corner of the goal, 2-1.
In the last 10 minutes of the match, the Young Gaurs pumped in two more goals. A fine move initiated by Prachit found Vedant inside the penalty box and he sent a square pass to Clison, who slotted the ball into the goal. Eden Rodrigues, who had come on from the bench, accounted for the fourth goal to round off the tally, 4-1.
