Hosts Goa were 47 for 1 when stumps were drawn on the second day of their Group C Ranji trophy opener against Hyderabad, trailing the visitors by 278 runs, Friday.
The match which is being played at GCA academy grounds,Porvorim saw Hyderabad managing to add a further 79 runs to their overnight total of 246 for 5. Being bowled out for 325 off 101 overs in their first innings, Hyderabad managed to pick the wicket of opener Amogh Desai who fell to Sunil Tyagi for 14. Goa were 24 for 1 at that point. Only 47 overs of batting was possible during the day as rain forced stoppage. Hyderabad who had played all of 69 overs on the opening day played a further 32 overs before Goa batted for 15 overs in the first innings. Swapnil Asnodkar who opened with Amogh was unbeaten on 14 and was being given company by nightwatchman Rituraj Singh who was undefeated on 11.
Earlier, Goa polished off the remaining five Hyderabad wickets giving away only 79 runs.Rituraj Singh who was the most successful bowler for Goa managed to claim 3 for 74 off his 25 overs. Left-arm spinner Shadab Jakati returned figures of 16-5-29-2 while Amit Yadav and P Parameshwaran claimed one wicket apiece.
