Goa began their West Zone campaign on a triumphant note in the qualifiers for the Junior National Football Championship for Dr BC Roy Trophy with a convincing 6-1 win over Gujarat in Rajasthan on Friday.

 Goa led 2-0 at half time. The big win was powered by a hat-trick from Vellon Rebello. Goa dominated the game right from the word go and never allowed their opponents to strike rhythm.

Goa broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute when Dwayne Pereira was brought down by the rival defender with the referee awarding a spot kick. The resultant spot kick was converted by Dwayne Pereira by sending the rival goalkeeper the wrong way. 

Vellon Rebello registered his name on the score sheet in the 40th minute. Post resumption, Goa enjoyed total domination and pushed their opponents on the back foot. Captain Aryan Salunke who atoned his earlier miss made it 3-0. 

Mistle Cardozo unleashed a powerful volley into the net giving no chance to the rival goalkeeper making it 4-0. There after it was no stopping Goa as Vellon Rebello struck twice to register his hat-trick

Earlier Gujarat reduced the deficits.

GFA slashes registration fees for ST clubs

the goan I networkPANAJIThe Goa Football Association has reduced the registration fees for new clubs hailing from ST areas by 50% of the current fees to encourage new clubs from these areas. GFA President Elvis Gomes said that there is a huge pool of players in ST areas that remains untapped and hence to encourage more clubs from these areas, GFA decided to reduce the fees. Registration fees for new clubs is Rs.20000 which means the new clubs will be required to pay…
