The match between Goa and Karnataka in the Vijay Merchant Trophy Elite (Under-16, three-day match) cricket tournament began on Monday. Goa were bowled out for 160 runs in 55 overs in their first innings. Karnataka then asserted its dominance by reaching 154 runs without loss in 33 overs at the close of play. Karnataka trails by just six runs. The match is being played at the RDCA Ground in Raipur.
Goa won the toss and elected to bat first. Opener Adeep Miskin batted in his usual aggressive style, scoring 68 runs off 62 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes. Apart from Adeep, only Mohammad Uzair (33) and Vinit Kamat (12) managed to reach double figures. For Karnataka, Suvik Gill took 5 wickets for 32 runs, Sukurth claimed 3 wickets for 27 runs, while Samarth Kulkarni took 1 wicket for 8 runs. At the end of the day, both Karnataka openers remained unbeaten, with Niranjan Ashok scoring 72 and Rohith Reddy 78.
