Goa girls put up a fight against Jharkhand

In the Women's Under-15 One-Day Trophy Elite cricket tournament, the Goa team suffered a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Jharkhand. This was Goa's third consecutive loss in the competition. However, Goa raised their performance in this match, posting a challenging total of 129 for 6 in the stipulated 35 overs. Jharkhand did not find the victory easy, as they had to bat for 34.1 overs to reach the target of 130. The match was played on Tuesday at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA“VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vizag.

After winning the toss, Goa elected to bat first. For the first time in the tournament, Goa successfully crossed the 100-run mark. Norah DSouza (30) and Teertha Patnekar (12) gave Goa a solid opening stand of 52 runs. Wicketkeeper-batter Joya Meer (37) and Shreeshtika Shivarkar (25) also contributed with good knocks. For Jharkhand, Surbhi Kumari was the most successful bowler, claiming two wickets.

While chasing the target, Jharkhand got off to a shaky start, with Goa reducing them to a precarious 19 for 4. Aanyaa Verma (69 not out) and Nandani Kumari (25) then steadied the innings with a 65-run partnership for the fifth wicket to revive Jharkhand's chase. For Goa, Vidika Sawant bowled a tight spell, picking up 2 wickets for just 19 runs in 7 overs. Arya Parab took 2 wickets for 38 runs, while Shreeshtika Shivarkar and Pooja Kalel claimed one wicket each.
