Goa Police SC blanked Goa Velha SC 5-0 in a first round fixture of GFA First Division League at Duler stadium, Mapusa on Monday evening.
From the start, Goa Police looked the more dominant of the two teams and enjoyed the lion's share of ball possession.

The next opportunity at the goal, came from a cross from Avristo Fernandes who passed the ball to Balchandra Vernekar who narrowly missed a shot at goal. The second goal for the policemen came in the 15th minute off a free-kick when a short pass from Milind Shinde to his captain, Abdul Khan, was deftly lobbed over the wall of defence to find the back of the net.
As the game progressed, a moment of brilliance came from the Goa Velha outfit with their U-20 player, Jesroy Fernandes, pace and guile, found him taking a good sight at the goal, when Goa Police's defender, Abhijeet Fadte, timely intervened.
As the game reached the half an hour mark, Balchandra found the back of the net twice for the policeman, both, from assists coming from Sachin Chopdekar.
The only real goal-scoring chance for Goa Velha FC came in the 19th minute, when Jesroy's powerful kick was beaten by the horizontal cross-bar to return to play with no damage done. Going into the breather and down four goals, in the second half, the story remained unchanged.
Goa Police SC added to their goal tally in the 66th minute with substitute Dalesh Pednekar entering his name on the score-sheet as well with the team's fifth goal.Round 2 matches will be played on February 4.
