Dr Caitano Jose Fernandes, president of Goa Football Association stressed on the importance of Goa Professional League in an effort to take Goan football to new heights at the executive members meeting held on Tuesday.
Fernandes disclosed that Sr Vice President Antonio Pango has been appointed chairman of the competition, Anthony Leo Fernandes will be deputy chairman of the competition in South Goa while Babli Mandrekar is the deputy chairman of the competition in North Goa.
“To run a proper structure, the main thing is to have human resources. We have planned to have a Deputy Chairman of competition in each district and execute the important work,” Fernandes mentioned.
The roadmap is absolutely perfect for taking Goan football ahead. This was a much-needed step for Goan football to grow,” said Fernandes.
Member committees have been formed. Former National Coach Maymol Rocky will be chairperson of women’s committee while Royla Fernandes of Cana-Benaulim Sporting Association is the Deputy chairperson. Custodio Fernandes, president of St Anthony’s Sporting Club Assolda and Dr Ajay Pednekar were copted as members. Minguel Gonsalves will be Bardez Taluka executive member as he replaces Jonathan D’Souza who was elected vice president of North Goa and executive members Anthony John D’Costa, former FIFA referee is the HRD. Others committee will be formed shortly.
