Goa River Marathon on Sunday

The 7th edition of Goa River Marathon will be held on Sunday, Dec 11 from route that starts at Chicalim SAG Ground and runs alongside the Zuari River. After six successful years the event is now the preferred choice on the National Runner’s calendar.

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar will be gracing the occasion as the chief guest while Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra, who is the Brand Ambassador, will flag off the Marathon. She will inspire the runners with her tips on fitness on Dec 10 at the EXPO.

With the notable increase in registrations, this year’s participation is spread across three categories - 42.2K Full Marathon distance, 21.1K Half Marathon, and 5K Family Fun Run. The prize pot for this event is Rs 7 lakh that is spread across 21 divisions in the above-mentioned categories.

Nitin Bandekar, President of Vasco Sports Club shared his excitement,saying: "The 7th Edition of the Goa River Marathon promises to deliver the best to the runners. We have over 3500 participants from across the globe, with over 1400 in the 10K category alone and this proves the rise in our local runners. Vasco Sports Club in association with NEB Sports wishes all a great run and a fabulous event."

In addition to the brilliant race experience, all participants will be served the signature hot breakfast at the end of their run. Each finisher will also go back home with a finisher medal to commiserate this occasion.

Runners will be taking over the streets from wee hours of the morning on Dec 11.
