Goa women coast to easy win against Team Rajasthan

PANAJI
Goa Women hardly put a foot wrong in the Senior Women's One-day League Plate tie against Team Rajasthan to register a facile eight-wicket win at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Friday.
Goa Women vice-captain, Sunanda Yetrekar put up a stellar all-round performance (58*, 3/33) to help her team secure their second win in as many matches in the Plate Group C clash.
Replying to a low target of 140 for a straight match running, Goa Women this time around did not make heavy weather of their run-chase. They c
antered home in 37.5 overs with seasoned campaigner and one-drop batter Sunanda unbeaten on 58 from 74 deliveries with five hits to the ropes, with talented Sanjula Naik for company on 7.
Goa Women got off to a solid start with Vinavi Gurav and Nikita Malik raising 46 runs for the opening wicket before Malik was dismissed at her individual score of 24 (57b, 4x4). Gurav continued with her compactness at the crease to raise a significant 60-run partnership with Yetrekar for the second wicket to give no chance to the opposition to find their way back into the contest.
With opener-stumper Gurav 42 (75, 5x4) dismissed with the team total at 106/2 in 30.5 overs, another collapse seemed improbable. Sanjula Naik in company of Yetrekar (58*, 74b, 5x4) saw the team over the line with 73 balls to spare. In the Team Rajasthan attack, captain BN Meena and SD Bishnoi shared the spoils with a wicket each.
Earlier put in to bat, Team Rajasthan could post only 139 from 49.3 overs. Opener P B Sharma 27 (82b, 3x4) and middle-order batter S P Kumawat (21, 31b) were their principal run-getters. While seven from their top eight batters reached double figures, none could convert their start to a meaningful contribution.
P B Sharma and S D Bishnoi began well raising an opening stand of 30 runs until Bishnoi was adjudged leg before to the leg spin of Sunanda Yetrekar for a patient 11 (29b, 2x4). At another stage, the team were with their backs to the wall reeling at 73/5 when T B Vaishnav joined S P Kumawat to combine for a repair job of 32 runs for the sixth wicket until Yetrekar again provided a vital breakthrough snaring Vaishnav for 17 (24b).
Among the Goa bowlers, the pick was Yetrekar who returned with impressive returns of 3/33 from 9.3 overs, while left-arm spinner Rupali Chavan snapped up two sticks with captain Shikha Pandey, Nikita Malik, Vanita Bhandari picking a wicket apiece.
Goa Women effected one change in their line-up, bringing in Sugandha Ghadi for Tejashwini Duragad. Goa will now take on Jammu & Kashmir in Round III on Sunday.
