Goa women registered a five-wicket victory over Himachal Pradesh in the seventh Rama Atre Women's T20 Cricket Tournament on Thursday.
Goa's bowlers restricted Himachal Pradesh to 127 all out in 19.5 overs after the latter opted to bat at the DAV Sector 8 Ground in Chandigarh. Devanshi Verma top-scored with 81 off 63 balls, hitting 14 fours and two sixes, but lacked support from the other batters. Shikha Pandey was the pick of the Goa bowlers, claiming four wickets for 20 runs, while Mitali Gawander took three for 21.
Goa chased down the target, scoring 129 for five in 19.5 overs. Shreya Parab top-scored with 37 off 40 balls, while captain Poorva Bhaidkar contributed 19 off 25.
Pandey then finished the chase in style, remaining unbeaten on 28 off 19 balls with four fours. Sunanda Yetrekar was unbeaten on 12 off seven balls.
Goa needed nine runs from the final over. Pandey took a single off the first ball before a dot delivery. Yetrekar then struck a four off the third ball and took a single off the fourth. Pandey sealed the win with a boundary over deep backward point off the fifth delivery.
