The Sarsangan Commonwealth Developers +40 Men’s Cricket Series witnessed another exciting day of action at the Arlem Cricket Ground as Govindraj Legends and S2 Strikers continued their impressive form, both registering their second consecutive victories of the tournament.
In the morning encounter, Govindraj Legends produced a composed all-round performance to defeat Brahmaputra Bulls by five wickets. Batting first, the Bulls posted a competitive 152 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs, with Avinash Kossambe top-scoring with a well-crafted 38. He received good support from Siddhesh Prabhu Alvenkar (35) and Laxmikant Kurade (19). For the Legends, Dinesh Pai bowled with excellent control to return figures of 2 for 19, while Sudin Kamat and Amith Kamat chipped in with a wicket each.
In reply, the Legends made a brisk start through openers Vishwesh Kamat (36) and Sudin Kamat (18), who added 40 runs in just five overs. Adv. Sahish Mahambrey (35) and Nikhil Virginkar (21 not out) then guided the chase safely, as Govindraj Legends reached the target at 153 for 5 in 18.5 overs. Gomakant Mahambrey was the pick of the bowlers for the Bulls with figures of 2 for 24, while Siddhesh Prabhu Alvenkar, Kauntey Shenvi and Aditya Prabhugaonkar claimed a wicket each.
Vishwesh Kamat was adjudged the Man of the Match. The other individual award winners were Avinash Kossambe (Best Batter), Gomakant Mahambrey (Best Bowler), Siddhesh Prabhu Alvenkar (Super Striker) and Dinesh Pai (Impact Player).
In the second match of the day, S2 Strikers registered a convincing 29-run victory over Mapusa Dream Crushers. Batting first, the Strikers piled up an imposing 195 for 9 in 20 overs, led by former Ranji Trophy wicketkeeper Mahendra Pai Kuchelkar, who top-scored with 35. He was well supported by Sarvesh Kamat (34) and Rasik Pai Khot (34). For the Dream Crushers, Vibhav Pai (2 for 13) and Sachin Kenkre (2 for 23) were the most effective bowlers, while Gaurish Agni, Gaurish Shenvi Lotlikar and Mahesh Churi picked up a wicket each.
Chasing a stiff target of 196, Mapusa Dream Crushers were restricted to 166, falling short by 29 runs despite fighting knocks from Rajesh Colvalcar (36) and Gaurish Shenvi Lotlikar (35). Siddhesh Bodke spearheaded the Strikers’ bowling effort with an impressive spell of 3 for 31, receiving good support from Sarvesh Kamat, Siddhesh Desai, Samruddh Hegde Desai, Rakesh Mallya and Jaiprakash Kunde, who all claimed a wicket apiece.
Siddhesh Bodke was named the Man of the Match, while Rajesh Colvalcar (Best Batter), Vibhav Pai (Best Bowler), Sarvesh Kamat (Super Striker) and Gaurish Shenvi Lotlikar (Impact Player) collected the individual awards.
